Introducing... the Beautiful Minds Newsletter!
Stay up-to-date on the latest science of creativity, well-being, and self-actualization.
I have exciting news to share: I’m launching the Beautiful Minds newsletter!
I can’t think of anything more heartbreaking and tragic than the loss of human potential. We’re all brimming with possibility we don’t even know.
We often give up way too soon. We often get lost in comparisons with others that we lose sight of what’s unique within us. We can often find ourselves in environments that are unsupportive or lack resources and we forget what the future could hold for us.
I’m a cognitive scientist and for the past 20 years I’ve been researching the science of human potential. There are so many exciting findings that I am bursting at the seams to share with you all. Throughout my scientific journey I have traversed the worlds of cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, personality psychology, developmental psychology, educational psychology, positive psychology, and humanistic psychology. I also have learned a lot from the great wisdom of our philosophers across human history— Western and Eastern philosophy.
The major themes of this newsletter will include the latest science of creativity, well-being, and self-actualization but will cross various disciplines and make some unexpected connections. For example:
How strong do you think the correlation is between IQ and openness to experience? Not as high as you would expect! Intelligence is not the same as creativity.
What do you think are the most important factors for greatness? Some of the factors on the list may shock you, including a disadvantage in childhood.
When you think of narcissism, you probably think of the puffed up grandiose narcissist who think they are superior to everyone else. Well, my research in the past 10 years has taken me to the fascinating world of “vulnerable narcissism”. I’ve come to believe that this quieter, more internally damaging form of narcissism is the biggest personal inhibitor of self-actualization.
At the end of the day, I believe that we are our own worst enemies of self-actualization.
At the end of the day, I believe that we are our own worst enemies of self-actualization. I want to really help educators, managers, health care professionals, and all of us in society to see the greater potential in others and ourselves. Sometimes we aren’t even aware of how much we’re holding ourselves back.
Self-knowledge— with radical self-honesty and healthy authenticity— along with knowledge of the science of human potential can ignite a huge transformation from within. No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve been through, you’re a beautiful mind. I believe in you. Let’s do this together and ignite human potential.

The majority of this newsletter will be free. I think it’s important my work reaches as large an audience as possible and I don’t want money to be a hinderance. However, for paying subscribers there will be special access to bonus content. For the price of a few cups of coffee a month you can become a subscriber. Also, I’m opening up 300 spots to become a “Founding Member”. As a Founding Member I will never forget that you supported this newsletter in the beginning and I will have founding member only events in the future.
For the next month only I’m offering 20% off all of these options if you’d like to support me. Your support will enable more of this work to happen. The more this community grows, the more I can invest my time in this work, which is deeply meaningful to me. I want to help you all become the best version of yourself and think this community can help each other make that happen.
