New collaboration with Second City!
"This Might Get Awkward" will dive headfirst into honest conversations with guests who don’t always agree using the tools of improv comedy and social science.
As many of you know, I'm really into comedy. So I’m excited to share an exciting new collaboration I’m doing with The Second City! The Second City is launching a new limited podcast series this Fall called “This Might Get Awkward”. Hosted by me and comedian Allison Reese, and sponsored by the Argosy Foundation, this six-episode series dives headfirst into honest conversations with guests who don’t always agree using the tools of improv comedy and social science.
Using the art of improvisation’s “Yes, And” approach, the podcast explores how meaningful dialogue can happen, even when opinions strongly differ - a skill set needed now more than ever.
Confirmed guests include: Andrew Yang, Loretta J Ross, Norman Finkelstein, and Caroline Fleck.
As Kelly Leonard from Second City puts it: “In improvisation, we teach the need to be free of judgement - judgement of self and judgement of others - in order to make something out of nothing. That’s what this podcast is attempting to do. We don’t need to sacrifice our morals or integrity to engage humans who may think differently than we do. More “Yes, And” and less “No, but.”

As a Chicagoan …. Looking forward to the collaboration!
Why do people fear judgement? The only way to give an opinion without judgment is not to give an opinion. As subjects, we cannot get rid of our judgement machine inside our minds.
