I have been through two massive fires over a 4 yr period in Sonoma County Ca. The unity of the community was amazing, and there were many silver linings. When packing in panic to escape- all that mattered was getting the 3 dogs in the car. Possessions of importance become very clear during these times. Anyway, nature is resilient! People are also. Keep the faith! All ❤️
Very uplifting - thank you. As a survivor (not victim) of the Palisades fire, I can attest to an enormous amount of support and compassion among both neighbors and people from around the world, which has continued to this day (and, I suspect, for the indefinite future). As Mr. Rogers said, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping".
A beautiful sentiment, thanks for sharing, SBK. Focusing on the greatness of humanity is what's keeping optimism and hope alive right now. It's inspiring and reminds me of past events like 9/11 when I was first taken aback by how incredibly organized, skilled, and selfless we humans are when needed. So glad you're okay. 💜
It is surreal and terrifying to watch areas of LA burn, and knowing that so many people lost everything is terrible. I hope humanity improves; it is much needed in general. We have to help others. NYC was friendly for two seconds, then became unaffordable.
Scott. You are 100% correct. I saw this compassionate resilience in NYC for months after 9/11. Sometimes the worst beings out there best in us. Thanks for making us aware of this and stay safe!
Glad that you're safe. What an incredible tragedy. I greatly appreciated reading your article. Perhaps the groundswell of the best of humanity in such a dire situation will be enough to counter what is quite likely to come with the next president. I feel more hopeful and reminded of my own extremely trying times and how I've managed to overcome them. Dr. Bonanno's work helped a great deal in that effort. Thank you.
Wonderful and Inspiring.

So glad you and your family are safe. And thank you for your optimism and words of hope. Much needed right now.

So glad you're safe, but what a horrific and tragic situation. The reports of the supportive community are inspiring though..
