Vulnerable Minds and the Hope of Resilience w/ Marc Hauser
I had a groundbreaking discussion with Dr. Marc Hauser about how to help all kinds of vulnerable minds lead a thriving existence.
I had such a great chat with Dr. Marc Hauser. Dr. Hauser is an evolutionary biologist, cognitive neuroscientist, educator, consultant, former Harvard professor, and author of the recent book Vulnerable Minds: The Harm of Childhood Trauma and the Hope of Resilience. Dr. Hauser’s scientific research includes over 300 published papers and seven books, focusing on how the brain evolves, develops, and is altered by damage and neurodevelopment disorders.
In this rich and important discussion we talked about adverse childhood experiences or ACES, and why it’s important to distinguish them from trauma. We also discuss Marc’s new framework for thinking about the dimensions of childhood adversity and the challenges and promises of implementing the kind of approach he advocates for. This was an ultimately uplifting and hopeful discussion, and I’m really glad to see the work Marc is doing to help all kinds of vulnerable minds. So without further ado, I bring you Dr. Marc Hauser.
